The mid-2000s marked Rahman's fullest use of orchestral arrangements as primary texture. String sections, brass, and sweeping arrangements moved to the foreground while electronics took supporting roles. These compositions prioritize emotional arc over rhythmic drive, building and releasing tension through orchestral dynamics. The transition from Era 2 occurs gradually—late spiritual works already feature orchestral elements, while early orchestral compositions retain modal and devotional characteristics.
